Rain &Weather Policy
Player & Participant Safety
The safety of all participants is the top priority at the Sapphire Golf Tour Pro-Am Charity Golf Classic. Tournament staff will monitor weather conditions throughout the event, and all rulings regarding play suspension are final.
Suspension of Play
One prolonged air horn blast signals an immediate suspension of play due to lightning or dangerous weather. All participants must stop play immediately upon hearing this signal.
When a suspension is called:
- Proceed calmly to the nearest designated weather shelter on the course
- Do not seek shelter under trees, near water features, or on elevated areas
- Do not remain on or near golf carts during a lightning suspension
- Await the all-clear signal (two short air horn blasts) before resuming play
Play Through Rain
- Light to moderate rain: Play will generally continue under these conditions
- Heavy rain: Play will be suspended if heavy rainfall creates dangerous conditions, causes water accumulation on greens or fairways, or makes the course unplayable
- Tournament officials and/or course marshals have final authority to make all weather-related decisions
Pro-Am Round — Official Round & Cancellation Policy
- If 50% or more of the Pro-Am field completes their round, the round is deemed official and scores will stand
- If less than 50% of the Pro-Am field is able to complete their round due to severe or sustained weather, the round may be cancelled
- In the event of cancellation, participants may be eligible for a refund or credit — details will be communicated by tournament staff at the time of cancellation
- Charity fundraising commitments and sponsorship arrangements are not affected by a weather cancellation unless otherwise agreed in writing
Historical Context
Weather suspensions and shortened rounds have occurred in prior Pro-Am charity events due to heavy rainfall and unplayable course conditions. Participants are encouraged to plan accordingly and dress for variable weather.
General Reminders
- Always follow the instructions of tournament staff, volunteers, and marshals — they have final authority on all safety matters
- Bring appropriate rain gear and be prepared for changing conditions
- Check the tournament app or official communications for real-time weather updates on event day
This policy is subject to updates at the discretion of Sapphire Golf Tour tournament officials. Any changes will be communicated to participants in advance of the event.
