Washington, D.C.   – The landscape of professional women’s golf is about to undergo a groundbreaking shift. The Sapphire Golf Tour, an unprecedented initiative dedicated to elevating African American women in golf, is officially launching.  The Tour provides these exceptional athletes with the resources, visibility, and competitive opportunities necessary to excel on the professional stage.

With more Black women competing in professional golf today than at any other point in history, the Sapphire Golf Tour arrives at a critical moment—one where talent, viewership, and media interest in women’s sports are exploding. Backed by the historic United Golfers Association (UGA), which has championed Black representation in golf for a century, this tour is more than just a competition; it is a movement, a catalyst for economic opportunity, and a bridge to the future of Black women in golf.

A Tour That Transforms Dreams into Reality

Designed as a premier developmental tour, the Sapphire Golf Tour is committed to closing the opportunity gap faced by Black women golfers post-college. Players will have access to elite coaching, high-level competition, strategic exemptions, and developmental resources that will accelerate their journeys to the highest levels of the sport.

The inaugural season will feature 16 talented tour professionals, alongside exemptions for standout collegiate and high school golfers who are ready to take their careers to the next level. Competitions will be hosted at prestigious venues across the country, including St. Ives Country Club in Atlanta, along with other iconic golf clubs in the DMV, Houston, and Northern Florida.

“The launch of the Sapphire Golf Tour isn’t just about creating a space for Black women in golf—it’s about changing the landscape of professional sports entirely. For the first time, we are providing a clear, sustainable pipeline for Black women to thrive at the highest levels. This tour is more than competition—it’s legacy, empowerment, and a call to action. The time is now!” says Tarek DeLavallade, Tour Commissioner.

Building a Future Beyond the Fairway

Beyond competitive opportunities, the Sapphire Golf Tour will establish mentorship programs to inspire and prepare the next generation of Black female golfers. By fostering growth from junior development to professional excellence, this tour is ensuring that today’s young athletes have the support needed to reach tomorrow’s biggest stages.

The Sapphire Golf Tour is rewriting history—one swing, one victory, and one opportunity at a time. The movement has begun.
